WINTWIRE
Titanium Grade 9
Titanium grade 9 wire, also known as Ti-3Al-2.5V, provides an intermediate combination of strength, ductility and formability between commercially pure titanium and the higher-strength Ti-6Al-4V grade 5 alloy. Its aluminium and vanadium additions increase mechanical strength while retaining excellent corrosion resistance and notably good cold-working characteristics. Grade 9 is therefore particularly useful for components that require greater strength than CP titanium but still involve significant forming, bending or fabrication. Its high specific strength and fatigue performance have led to extensive use in aerospace, performance engineering and lightweight structural applications. Welding wire is designated ERTi-9.
