Stainless Steel Wire 316
316 stainless steel wire or 1.4401 contains an addition of molybdenum that gives the material an improved corrosion resistance. This is particularly apparent for pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. The material has a higher carbon content than 1.4404 which often lends itself to spring making due to the higher cold work factor.
